Friday my daughter finished her last day of summer camp at Fort Washington and will start Kindergarten on Monday. I’m reaching out because I wanted to share with you how positive our experience at ELCA has been with our child’s Pre-k teacher, Maggie Winner, and Director Christina Sibley. We attended another center prior to ELCA and been through many directors and teachers and these two are by far some of the best there is.
Maggie’s compassion, patience, and creative way of teaching have helped my daughter thrive and be in a perfect position to go into Kindergarten. Aside from teaching, Maggie is one of the best humans I’ve ever met. She is truly one of a kind and we will be eternally grateful that we got to share a year of our life with her.
Christina has been such a consistent, reliable presence with a knack for planning and handling difficult situations. I’m sure it wasn’t easy handling all the COVID stuff and she did it seamlessly, even over the weekend. She is ALWAYS there. In our experience at other centers, sometimes the Director would be hard to track down if you really needed to speak with them. Not Christina. She’s there for early morning drop-offs and later afternoon pickups. And she responds to emails almost always on the same day. There were times when I emailed her over the weekend with something for the coming week and I’d be surprised when she responded before Monday morning. That’s unheard of. Sometimes I’ve worried about her work-life balance, she’s so available at the center. In my professional experience in the banking industry, we have a high turnover rate too due to the nature of the industry. However, when we have a stellar employee that we’d be devastated to lose, we make sure to do everything we can to make sure we retain them. Additionally, all the staff seems to genuinely like and respect her, which is a hard line to walk.
I hope you know how lucky you are to have Maggie and Christina. They made our lives so much easier and we will miss them dearly.
